Is it okay to lie about your engagement?

“My girlfriend proposed to me. I was taken back, but I said yes. Both of our parents are very traditional, so I’m concerned her parents will be mad that I didn’t ask for permission, and my parents will be mad that I wasn’t the one to propose. Would it be wrong to “ask” her parents for permission, then tell them that I proposed to her?”
