How can I find out whose it was and apologize?

Today I’m the one looking for advice!

KC made some chili and left me a container of it in the fridge. The next day I texted her to thank her, and she told me her chili was still in the fridge…

It’s hard to find out whose it was since people are only in for a few hours a day. Also how can I make it up to them?
